Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Dry Oil Mist: Best hair oil in the market?

Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Dry Oil Mist

My hair is usually oily at the roots and dry everywhere else. No matter what type of hair oil I use, I never seem to get the ends to be silky smooth. On some days if I get lucky, the ends of my hair would be somewhat smooth. My hair has always been like this which had been a struggle trying to maintain it especially since I always had to try and balance it out due to dry hair and oily roots. Growing up I didn't know how to take care of my hair because no one really knew how to handle my hair type as well. I used to hate how it looked like, I thought I looked hideous and there were times where I wished I had thinner and straighter hair because that's what most people in my family had. But now that I'm older I'm trying to be more careful with my hair. I like my hair thick so whenever I lose hair I get so paranoid. Like I mentioned before, growing up I didn't know how to take care of my hair because it was only me and my sister that had hair that was puffy, somewhat wavy (my sister's hair is somewhat curly), and definitely not silky at all. Both of us always tried to find a way to get it to be like everyone else, which we shouldn't have tried to do. We used to straighten it everyday and buy almost every single oil or hair cream out there at the market. What we thought was helping our hair was probably damaging it more than we thought.

We finally accepted our hair type and didn't want to damage it anymore than it was due to all the hair straightening/use of random hair products. It was impossible to get our hair smooth and shiny. At least my sister had somewhat curly hair while I thought mine was horrible. It was kind of puffy and I couldn't do anything with my hair but put it up into a ponytail, bun, or braids. I did some research and started to use heat protectant which I admit did help the texture of my hair a lot. It made it much smoother but it still was dry. I've tried the Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum which was extremely heavy! You would think that a $50 bottle would be some miracle, right? Well I was wrong and that is definitely a product I've been regretting. But a few weeks ago I was walking around Sephora and I've tried a few Alterna hair products before since I picked them as samples whenever I made an order online. But I spotted the Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist and was immediately intrigued. Dry oil? That made me very curious and especially since it was a spray oil instead of a pump. I sprayed the product into my sister's hair and we continued to walk around the store shopping around. When we were finished picking up the things we needed, we went back over to the Alterna section and checked her hair. My sister loved the scent of the oil and said that it felt so smooth. It did look smoother and I really wanted to test it out so I bought it!

So after using this for about two weeks now I will definitely say that it made a huge difference in my hair. It also depends on how I apply it, I will use it after I blow dry my hair and if it's still a little dry after that I'll spray a few more pumps and then my hair looks noticeably smoother and shinier. This hair oil is $25, I know it is still kind of pricy but when it comes to your hair you need to take care of it.

  1. Hi Kelly! I have the same hair type as you so reading this post made me feel like I was reading about my own hair! I could totally relate to how you felt about wanting your hair to be straighter, but I've embraced my slightly wavy hair as well. Thanks for sharing about this hair oil. I have to really check it out and see if it works for my locks too xx

    1. I think this mist is definitely lighter and doesn't weigh down my hair as much as an oil does. Great alternative.
