NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation + Oily Skin = ?

November 12, 2015

I know what you're probably thinking, luminous and oily skin in the same sentence means it'll be a disaster. That's what I thought but I read a lot of reviews about this product saying that it isn't suited for dry skin. Does that mean it could possibly be good for oily skin? This foundation is the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation and retails for $48, kind of pricy but it is NARS. This is the first NARS foundation I used so I wasn't expecting too much because I didn't have anything else to compare it to. I've never tried anything luminous before, I tend to stay away from that. The only reason why I wanted this was because 1) the packaging is stunning and 2) I've also read reviews from oily skin people saying it works really well on their skin. I wore this to school at around 60 degree weather thinking that this would probably be good since it's sort of cold out, which means that this foundation might last longer on my face.

I'll have to say that the finish is amazing when you first apply it. The only thing I don't like about the formula is that it is very watery. When I first put the product onto the back of my hand I felt like the foundation went all over the place, I'm not used to this kind of formulation so it took me by surprise. This foundation is pretty light weight but it covers redness and some breakouts which is great. I found that it didn't really look luminous on my skin, the finish was pretty matte and that could've been because I used a matte setting powder right on top.
I put this foundation on at 9 am and by the time it was 4 pm I felt like it was starting to get very oily. From 9 to 1 it felt completely normal as in not being able to feel any foundation on my face, it was lightweight. Around 2 I could feel my face being oily, I didn't even have to look in the mirror to know that it was oily. It looked and felt like everything was melting off which is something I dislike about this foundation.

Overall I did find that this foundation only lasted a few hours on my oily skin but I think the reason why it could've been melting off my face was because of the thick sweater and jacket I was wearing, which made me feel sweaty and that equals oily skin. But I really do like this foundation but I don't think it's worth the $48 so this might have to be returned.
