MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick: Quite The Standout

January 8, 2016

When I first heard that MAC was making liquid lipsticks I was really excited. I feel like all of the MAC lip products I've tried have always been a hit. I did hear some mixed reviews about this which made me nervous to try it, but when I saw the swatches I knew that I wanted this shade. This shade is called Quite The Standout and these Retro Matte liquid lipsticks retail for $20.

The thing was, I knew that this formula wouldn't disappoint me even though some people did say that it disappointed them. It's extremely pigmented and with one application it'll cover your entire lip. This isn't drying at all unlike some other liquid lipsticks. I will say that it does kind of transfer which is weird because the makeup artist told me that it wouldn't, but it could be due to the fact that I didn't wait too long after applying it to start drinking my coffee so of course it went all over the lid of my cup. Just like most liquid lipsticks, you should pair it with a lip liner if it's a dark/bright shade because it was kind of hard to apply it evenly at the edge of my lips without having liner. I really like the applicator of this liquid lipstick but at the same time I don't. I think that it's great for applying on the middle to the side of your lips, but when it comes to the corners it's a little too wide and can actually go all over the place. I really like this color because it's an orange red and I really like that color. I'm not a huge fan of completely red lipsticks, I feel like the orange tones in it makes it more wearable for everyday.

This liquid lipstick also took kind of long to dry, it took around 1-2 minutes to get completely matte. But that doesn't really bother me, I only really care about the feeling of it on my lips. Since this isn't drying I will most likely purchase more colors soon.

Are you planning to purchase any of the retro matte liquid lipsticks?
