My Winter Skincare Essentials

December 31, 2016

I really hate what the cold does to my skin. My skin will be completely normal, no oils or anything but then I get dry patches in some areas which ruins my makeup. So the lesson I've learned during the winter? Moisturize! Skin care first before any makeup because if your skin is flaky and patchy then your makeup will be too no matter what primer you use.

  • Sephora Algae Eye Mask - My latest obsession is with eye patches/masks. I do feel like they make a difference because my under eyes could get really dry and it makes concealer impossible to blend. But I've been using the Sephora eye masks for a while now and find that it does help me. I don't notice any reactions either which is a huge plus.
  • Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream - I like this moisturizer for after my showers. I wash my face twice at night, and this one is used immediately after my shower. It's moisturizing and good for sensitive skin. Even though this helps the dryness, I wouldn't use this before makeup because I find that it makes my foundation patchy and crumble.
  • Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream - My favorite moisturizer to use year round; it helps with the dry patches but it doesn't make me look/feel greasy. I wear this before my makeup and noticed that it really smooths things over.
  • May Coop Raw Sauce - This essence has made a huge difference in my routine. In the mornings I find that my skin is dehydrated and dry. Whenever there's a tight feeling on my skin I'll put this all over my face, let it dry and then follow it with a moisturizer. I'm going to purchase a full size of this as soon as I'm finished. It feels amazing on my skin.

  • Glam Glow ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment - I'm really loving the smell of this mask. It reminds me of candy, but I do find that it makes a difference in my skin. It helps with the dry patches and the tightness that comes with the dryness. I got this sample size from my Sephora Play Box, and it's lasted me a while now.

  • Lush Sympathy For The Skin Body Lotion - I love the scent of this body lotion, it smells yummy like vanilla and it's really moisturizing. My skin gets dry in the winter, and dryness leads to being itchy. So I've been applying this all over my body and I love how it makes me smell along with the long lasting feeling of being moisturized.
