My New Favorite Foundation

June 18, 2017

Summer is almost here and that means it's that time again where I struggle to find a foundation that'll last on my skin. I've tried almost every single foundation that claims it's best for oily skin, and I've tried so many mattifying primers as well. The foundation and primer would work for a week, and then afterwards it seems to just stop working. I consider my skin oily, but occasionally I get rough patches here and there. When I heard about MAC Cosmetics' Next to Nothing foundation I wasn't all that interested because MAC foundations usually break me out. I was also told by an employee that this foundation was more luminous and not the best for oily skin, but I wanted to give it a try anyways. Let me say that I am completely shocked at how this foundation wore on my skin.

I had a sample of this foundation at first, and I wasn't expecting to like it at all. The one day I wore it to work, I realized that it didn't feel like my face was caked with makeup. By the time I got out of work, I noticed that I didn't blot once all day. When I looked in the mirror I didn't see any oxidation or breakage from the foundation. I realized just this month that if I was going to use foundation, that I should only concentrate on areas that actually need the coverage. There was no point of putting foundation everywhere only to then put concealer and powder over it. I only use one and a half pumps of this foundation, I'll focus it on areas that need more coverage (areas that have breakouts, or acne scars).

The foundation blends in seamlessly and it's a very light coverage. I haven't tried building it up only because I've been liking the "no foundation" foundation look. I'll go over any blemishes that haven't been covered with my Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. Since using this foundation, I do find that it's less oily on my skin compared to other foundations I have. Some days when it's 90 degrees out, I do find that I have to blot a lot more often - but I'm actually ok with that because of how my foundation stays in place.

I highly recommend this foundation to those of you with dry to oily skin types. Trust me, seeing the words "luminous" and "satin finish" being advertised for this foundation did turn me away from it. But this foundation has been my go to this entire month. This Next to Nothing foundation retails for $31, and contains 1.2 fluid oz.
