2017 Best of Skincare

January 7, 2018

In 2017 I decided that I really needed to simplify my skincare routine. I realized that I was just buying and buying, but not really using up everything I purchased. Having to throw away bad products and just see it go to waste made me realize how much money I spent. So towards the end of the year when I was running low on products, I wrote down a list of my skincare concerns and compared it to my Sephora cart. Did I really need to repurchase these items? Did I really need to try out this new cleanser?

It was a lot easier to narrow down a list of products I actually needed based off of what I had left in my collection. If I saw that I had too many cleansers, there clearly was no use for that many. If I saw that I was running low on moisturizer then that was something I needed to purchase.

(Left to right: Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, Herbivore Jasmine Green Tea Jasmine Water Balancing Toner, & Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner)

Cleanser:
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser - I've gone through at least 4 of these already. This cleanser is really gentle and I feel like it would be great for all skin types. My skin is very sensitive and I find that I can really use this without worrying about getting any reactions. I also use this as a second cleanse after removing my makeup. I will definitely repurchase this since I'm running low.

Toner(s):
Herbivore Jasmine Green Tea Balancing Toner - This was a newer purchase, and I got this because I'm a big fan of Herbivore. I find that their products really work well for me and I've tried their Rose face mist before which I loved. My skin has been breaking out and I find that this toner has really been helping with calming down any pimples. My sister has also been using this cleanser and loves it too.

Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner - Since the weather has been getting colder, my skin has been getting drier! I find that this toner is really gentle and my skin has not been patchy at all this winter. I used this toner a lot and it's been a new favorite of mine.

(Left to right: Farmacy Dew It All Total Eye Cream with Echinacea GreenEnvy, Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb, Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb)
Eye Cream:
Pharmacy Dew It All Total Eye Cream with Echinacea GreenEvny - This eye cream is really creamy and I noticed that it really smooths out my under eye area.
Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb - After getting a sample of this eye cream, I found that is moisturizing my eyelids and undereye so well. It really helps my makeup blend out seamlessly and my concealer as well, it really changed my makeup game.

Moisturizer:
Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb - I'm running out of this moisturizer as well, and I will definitely repurchase. I find that it gives me just the right amount of moisture without feeling or looking too greasy. I've gone through at least 3 of these in 2017.
(Left to right: Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil, Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum)
Serums:
Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil - I've been using this serum at least 3 times a week, and my skin has really been looking good. The only thing I dislike is the scent, it smells very medicinal.
Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum - This has lasted me for a while and I think it has helped my skin improve. I looked at previous pictures of me before using this and saw that my skin tone has really evened out.

(Herbivore Blue Tansy AHA + BHA Resurfacing Clarity Mask)
Masks:
Herbivore Blue Tansy AHA + BHA Resurfacing Clarity Mask - I had a sample of this mask and it's been a huge life saver for me. Whenever I have a bad break out and use this mask consistently, any pimples will be gone within a few days. It's also pretty gentle on my skin and a little lasts a long way.
(Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Celansing Balm with Echinacea GreenEnvy)
Cleansing Balm:
Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Celansing Balm with Echinacea GreenEnvy - A friend of mine raved about this for a while and I didn't think it would be that good. I've used many cleansing balms in the past and found that it was a lot of work to use because I would always end up having to use micellar water afterwards to clean up any residue. But with this cleansing balm I found that I don't have that issue and when I clean my face with a cotton pad/toner afterwards, there isn't any remaining makeup on the face. This also doesn't dry out my skin which is a plus.
(Glossier Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream)
Glossier Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream - I got this as a birthday gift from a friend of mine and I've been using it all the time since. It smells amazing and is really moisturizing. With my sensitive skin, most body creams would give me a rash or reaction, but I haven't experienced anything with this one!
